analogueNOW 2025
It’s time! We’re back with a new event this year!
analogueNOW 2025 will take place from May 23rd to 25th. The programme aims not only to convey contemporary analogue photography to visitors, but also to make it tangible. Seeing, understanding and participating are the dimensions of the festival. Group exhibitions, workshops, conferences, lectures, show & tells, artist talks, guided tours, photo walks, … analogueNOW 2025 has (hopefully) something for everyone!
Analogue photography – Revisited
Already taken pictures today? Whether analog or digital, there is hardly anyone on earth who does not take pictures nearly every day.
If we stick to the classic story of the origins of photography, it was invented in France almost 200 years ago. Once it became presentable, it began its unprecedented triumphal march around the world. Photography with a camera obscura may be a far cry from the digital images of our smartphones, but both techniques have their roots in the same process: light passes through a lens and creates an image inside the camera.
What is the state of analog photography today, almost two centuries after its invention? Why has it survived when digital photography is so smart and simple? How has it shaped the planet and our view of it? What role does it play in environmental pollution and the extraction of raw materials? What is analog photography 2025?
analogueNOW 2025 enters the fray and invites contemporary players in analog photography. Over the course of a weekend, we will look behind the scenes and under the carpet for an update on dusty stories and toxic processes.
One Event, two Locations:
Nirgendwo (Helsingforser Str. 10, 10243 Berlin) is a cultural centre for environmental and sustainability education. Workshops, presentations and talks are offered here. The varied programme is aimed at a wide audience and takes place in the large hall as well as in the garden and on the terrace.
Fotogalerie Friedrichshain (Helsingforser Pl. 1, 10243 Berlin) is a non-profit organisation that is mainly run by volunteers and enables the integration of socially disadvantaged people into working life. We will organise and curate an exhibition here.
