His photographs are situated in a field of tension between reportage and voyeurism and tell of the rapid social changes in Romania and the Eastern Balkans in stark contrasts.<\/p>\n<p>Barabancea&#8217;s protagonists are night owls, daydreamers, winners and losers. His works reflect how artificial social stereotypes influence society and how reductive narratives shape today&#8217;s culture. Barabancea seeks to challenge the status quo and ridicule the notion of a shallow flowing normality through his images of the absurd and grotesque.<\/p>\n<p>Barabancea finds his audience through the publication of his photographs in photo books.
