Join us for a hands-on solarigraphy workshop led by astronomer and solarigrapher Maciej Zapiór, where analog photography meets astronomy and creative observation. Maciej has been exploring solarigraphy – the art and science of long-exposure pinhole photography that captures the Sun’s path across months – since 2005 and has exhibited his work internationally at festivals and galleries across Europe.
In this workshop participants will learn the basics of solarigraphy, including how to construct their own solarigraphy camera from an aluminum can and photosensitive paper, how long exposures record the Sun’s track over time, and how to place and orient the camera for optimal results. You will also learn about the theory behind the images, how weather influences solar patterns, and creative ways to use solarigraphic images in visual storytelling.
PROGRAM:
- Solarigraphy talk: A brief introduction to solar motion and solarigraphy from an astronomical perspective (30min)
- Camera construction (45min)
- Demonstrations of different solarigraphy cameras and setups (15min)
- Tips for installation places, outside walk (30min)
- Tips for processing and scanning (15min)
